IRS Selecting Vendor to Administer ERPA Exam

March 24th, 2008 · No Comments

To earn the designation of Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) from the IRS, candidates must first pass an exam designed to demonstrate their competence. One of the first steps for the IRS in awarding the ERPA designation is for the Service to select the company who will actually administer the exam.

In the latest edition of Employee Plan News, the Service announced that they issued a solicitation of bid on March 18, 2008, to select a company to administer the exam. Bidding closes on April 21, 2008, and the IRS expects to award the contract in August of 2008.

Key components of the solicitation of bid are that the contractor will be ready to administer the exam by April, 2009, the exam will be administered a minimum of twice a year on a national basis, and that the exam will be scored and applicants notified of their results within 30 business days of the applicant successfully passing the exam.
