It’s a Carnival of Employee Benefits

April 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Carnival:

noun

  • 1. a festival marked by merrymaking and processions

  • 2. a frenetic disorganized (and often comic) disturbance suggestive of a large public entertainment; “it was so funny it was a circus”; “the whole occasion had a carnival atmosphere”
  • 3. a traveling show; having sideshows and rides and games of skill etc.

What is the Carnival of Employee Benefits?

A place to come on Friday at 5pm ET to read some of the best blogging on employee benefits over the last week. As a young lawyer, I was lucky enough to be working in Cincinnati, which had the most amazing tradition of Friday social hours among the law firms in town. Each Friday afternoon, lawyers would gather and discuss the news of the week. I benefited tremendously from the wisdom and mentoring of the attorneys I met at these gatherings. Now that I split my time between Orlando, Chicago and Cincinnati, I find myself more often than not in the office or an airport at 5pm on a Friday and not gathering with colleagues for some friendly pension geek speak. So the Carnival is born - an electronic gathering of employee benefit enthusiasts for a little bit of merrymaking after a long week of design and compliance.

So stop by next Friday for some pension geek speak, a little bit of socializing, and a pinch of socializing. More information, including how to submit an article for the Carnival, is here. More information about Blog Carrnivals can be found at BlogCarnival.com.
